Through The Lenses: Cinemalaya 2016

Celebrating twelve years of Independent Philippine Cinema

The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival or commonly known as Cinemalaya is where budding and seasoned Filipino film directors converge to show their masterpieces to the Filipino people.

The Film Festival was spearheaded by the National Commission on Culture and Arts twelve years ago in order to answer for the need of initially, budding Filipino film directors, to showcase their work to the public in an avenue where there are no strings attached as it is very hard for them back then to get their films into big cinemas such as SM and Ayala Cinemas.

Now on its 12th year, the Cinemalaya continues to be a breeding ground for the future of Philippine cinema and with these photos we took yesterday, we hope to give you a glimpse of what it is like to take part in Cinemalaya as an audience to the films that our budding directors have created.
